The housing complex in San Diego finally called us today with an offer on an apartment and a move-in date! We have been waiting and waiting, frustrated that we didn't know when we were leaving. Now we know that we will be moving out and in on August 14th. That is one month from today! Just in time to give our current landlords 30 days notice. We had considered spacing the move over two days, and stopping somewhere in between here and San Diego, but decided in the end to do the drive in one day. It will be a longer day for Kimball, but less complicated. We're hoping to arrive while there is still daylight left so we can set up Kimball's room, put him to bed, and still have time to unload some of the truck. My dad is going to drive down with us, help for a few days, then fly back. We are so excited and grateful to have some help!
We were offered the floor plan we wanted: a two-bedroom apartment that is just slightly larger than the one we are in now. Actually, our first choice was one with three bedrooms, but there are only a handful in the whole complex, and they are reserved for large families, so I'm not surprised we didn't get it. The extra space would have been nice, but we don't really need it. We're very happy to have gotten the offer we have. I looked at the address on Google maps, and it looks like there are some nice, big trees aroud the building. It's nice to have an official address!
After I got off the phone with the housing complex, I kept saying "yay!" to Kimball and clapping my hands. He thought it was great that I was so excited, and kept laughing really loud, clapping his hands, and giving me high-fives. He could tell something good had happened!

I'm moving to a new apartment in two weeks, so I'll be thinking of you three while I pack all my boxes. Don't you just love moving? :P

Super mixed emotion over here. I'm so happy that you guys are continuing on with Jordan's schooling, that he got unbelievably awesome scholarships/fellowships/stipends, and that you snagged a great apartment! Woot, woot! This is the best thing for you guys right now!
But guess what? That means you will be . . . leaving. My heart is hurting right now.
