Goings On

We will be moving three weeks from Saturday! We've made a list of so many things to do from now until then, so Kimball and I have been keeping very busy with errands the last few days. It's tiring for us, especially for Kimball, but it's also really nice to get out of the house. With only a bitty swamp cooler that cools only the immediate area surrounding it and doesn't reach the back of the house, I get tired of spending a lot of time inside with a thin film of sweat constantly on my skin. I can't wait to get to La Jolla, where temperatures appear to be 20 degrees cooler than they are here!

We have done a great job selling stuff that we don't want to or can't take with us. So far we have sold our TV, entertainment center, DVD cabinet, couch, armchair, and hopefully our washer and dryer tomorrow. We have someone coming over to look at them, and are doing many, many loads of laundry tonight, in case they are purchased. The two things I will miss most about living here is FAMILY and having a WASHER and DRYER. I would much rather have a washer and dryer than a dishwasher, but sadly, in our new place we won't have either. Well, we have done coin-operated before, I'm sure we'll get used to it again.

Kimball gave me a cold, and it has been almost two weeks and it still hasn't completely gone away! I'm sick and tired of feeling sick and tired. Jordan has been lucky enough lately to dodge Kimball's and my sicknesses.

Last night my parents treated us to a yummy Mexican dinner. Tonight, Kimball treated us to "refried beans remix". Last week we took him to a FREE community theater showing of "The Music Man". A post with video and pictures is upcoming, but suffice it to say, Kimball was entranced for all three hours!

We attended an outdoor concert this week (also FREE!). The orchestra played some pieces by Copland, Morricone, Saint-Saens, and John Williams, among others. Kimball really enjoyed watching the orchestra, but nothing made him dance like Darth Vader's theme from "The Empire Strikes Back":

Unfortunately, he had gotten his most wild moves out before I started recording, but you can still see that he is pretty into it. Also, I'm sorry for the quality (cell phone) and for laughing too loud. I'm pretty sure that the little jig there at the end is more of a tantrum than a dance, in reaction to my dad taking Kimball's cup off of the truck where he had so carefully balanced it.

That's all the "news" of our family right now. Next up is to start packing. I just don't know where to start!

He's got the beat down to the Star Wars theme. Aren't little kids so fun to watch.

What a cute boots! I especially liked the "jig"-even if it was a tantrum! :)

Rachel, I thought you said, "what cute boots!" and I was SO confused, trying to find a description or pictures of boots somewhere in my post. :P

Sorry you're still feeling sick! That's the worst. Hopefully you can kick it before the move, but until then I recommend lots of juice and chocolate. :)

Oh, and living without a washer/dryer or dishwasher isn't actually that bad once you get used to it. That was our situation at BYU for 2.5 years and we loved it there.

(That video is SO cute!)

The video of Kimball almost looks like he is trying to conduct the orchestra as well. He is so stinking cute!
I'm sorry that you are sick and having to pack and move at the same time. Just one of those suck at a time and I am very sorry that you have to do both at the same time! Hopefully we get to see you guys before you leave!

Kimball's my kind of kid dancing to John Williams like that! :) So cute! I love the pictures too.

Good luck with the packing, one of my most hated things to do. But, it leads to greener pastures, so it's worth it. :)

First of all, so sorry about the no-shows for the W&D. What a drag.

I loved watching Kimball conduct the orchestra! Right at that moment in the program when Ashley caught Kimball doing his wild moves on this video, Jordan leaned over to me and said, "I KNEW Kimball would go crazy when the orchestra got to Darth Vader's theme! He loves that part so much!" If you watch closely, you can see Kimball's pacifier bobbing up and down to the beat :D Love that baby!

When you posted previously about Kimball's musical taste, I was going to ask if he's been to a concert! I'm glad he enjoyed it so much!

Can you maybe sell the washer/dryer to the landlord and leave it in the apt?
