Besides the soft spine, I have now learned two other types of bookbinding. The first is oriental stab binding, which is an ancient Japanese method. It is the quickest and easiest of the techniques that I've learned. In the class we even got to decorate our own paper! I decorated this paper with walnut ink and watercolors.
This week I learned coptic binding. I think it may be my favorite. Coptic books are nice because they have an open spine and can lay flat when open.
Wow, those are really cool! I like the designs, and the binding looks really artistic too! Do you plan to use the books for writing in, or maybe scrapbooking, gifting, or photo albums?
Coptic was my favorite to learn as well, it takes some practice, but it sure is beautiful when its done well. Yours looks great! Keep up the good work:)

Ooh, cool! I don't think I've ever seen books bound like that. I like the open-spine look...the one with the zig-zag stitching looks especially neat.
They look great! I really like the paper you decorated. It goes well with the Japanese binding as the decorations look somewhat oriental.
