I know Valentine's Day was almost two weeks ago, but I've been too busy to write about it until now. We had a very nice Valentine's Day, and my parents were nice enough to take Kimball for a few hours so Jordan and I could have a nice afternoon and evening together! A few days before Valentine's Day, I asked Jordan if he was getting me anything. He said, "not really, maybe just a card". Ok, fine by me, since we are trying to be a little extra thrifty right now. So I didn't get him much besides a card either.
So of course, on Valentine's Day morning I woke up to a beautiful bouquet of flowers and presents! Typical of Jordan to one-up me in the present category on any holiday. He got me one of my favorite movies, Shall We Dance? This is the original, Japanese movie. They remade it in English starring Richard Gere, but I've never seen the remake. The original is hilarious! We've been really into Japanese movies lately, and we only had this one on VHS, so I was excited to get it on DVD.
He also got me this book I had really been wanting, Artisan Bread in Five Minutes a Day. My friend Christine reccommended it to me. I've never really had a desire to make bread because of all the time and effort that goes into it. But this book teaches you how to make lots of yummy recipes without any kneading and very little rising time. I've already made a few great loaves of bread, which I will write about and show pictures of later. I mentioned this book to Jordan a while ago, saying that if he ever wanted to get me anything (hint, hint), this is something I really wanted. When I opened it on Valentine's Day, he said, "you didn't think I was listening, did you?" No, actually, I didn't! Should have known better, though. My lame-in-comparison "gift" was to make Jordan breakfast in bed. Just eggs, french toast, fruit, and juice--pretty simple. But he liked it just the same. We finished the evening with a nice dinner out, which we haven't been able to do for a while, then we picked up our little man, who I miss so much when ever I drop him off with his grandparents, and went home to put him to bed. Happy belated Valentine's Day to everyone!

I have been thinking about getting that book. Looking forward to hearing more about what you thought of it.
I made a dinner tonight that I think you might be ok eating. It was pasta, asparagus, sundried tomatoes, parsley, w/ a lemony butter sauce. I'll get the recipe up soon, but I was thinking about you because it was the kind of thing I would have eaten w/ Madeline when I was dairy free. So as long as asparagus doesn't bother him...I was thinking it would be good with shrimp added, but I didn't have any or time to deal with that because it was super busy today.
Glad you got a nice time out!
Happy Valentine's Day! What a precious little cupid!
Kimball looked so cute in his red outfit! I think the moniker, "Little Man" fits him perfectly--he is all boy and so very handsome!!!
What a precious Valentine you've given our whole family in "Little Man" Haug!!
And his daddy, "Big Man" Haug is just as precious to us! What a guy!! I love all the thought he puts into his gifts!
And thanks, too, Ashley for this blog! You don't know what it means to us. It makes us feel so much closer to your sweet family.
Oh, also, I love the new heading for the blog with the photos!
Love eternally,
GGH & GGH
Oh man, Jordan gets a gold star for all those thoughtful gifts! And don't knock breakfast in bed...I love it!
I've been meaning to watch "Shall We Dansu" for a long time, and your post finally pushed me to get it. I have it on hold at the library right now! :)
I just might have to get myself that very same cook book, it sounds fun! And of course your little guys is just darling!
