Our little man turned two months old yesterday (or 9-weeks today)! Happy Birthday Kimball! Kimball is getting cuter and cuter by the day. Ever since he hit 6 weeks, we've been noticing new developments at an amazing rate. On his 6-week "birthday", he rolled from his tummy to his back--twice in a row! Jordan saw the first time, then called me over to watch and Kimball did it again. Then, he didn't do it at all until last night, when my dad saw it happen three times! I have yet to take a video of it, but I'll be sure to post it when I do.
Also starting around six weeks, Kimball started giving us real smiles "on command", not just gassy ones or accidental ones. Now he gives us lots of chubby smiles every day, especially on his changing table. His changing table is where we have our greatest conversations. Around 8 weeks he started to "talk" to us. He opens his mouth over and over, and sometimes sounds come out, sometimes they don't. When they do, they are the cutest coos and sighs you've ever heard! He has such a soft, high-pitched little voice, it melts your heart.
When we feed him from a bottle, he immediately folds his little arms across his chest or claps his fingers together. He's also becoming more aware of his hands, and likes to suck on his fingers/thumb/fist when they make their way to his mouth. My mom has noticed that he has a preference for his left hand...we'll see if this continues!
Kimball is starting to sleep better and better!! As I type, he is in the middle of a nap, going on 2 1/2 hours! Today was probably the second time that I have had a decent nap myself since giving birth to him (when someone else is not entertaining him, that is). Last night he slept for almost 7 hours! This is by no means a set pattern yet, but it sure is progress. Perhaps one of the most encouraging things is that, while he is still a very digestively-challenged little boy, his gassiness is getting better!
He is such a strong boy. He can lift his whole chest up when he's on his tummy and can even "sit" if you help him. At his 8-week doctor appointment, he weighed 11 lbs 14 oz and was 23 inches long (at birth he was 8 lbs 12 oz and 20 1/2 inches). Those measurements were both around the 64% percentile. His head circumference was only in the 23% percentile. What? This kid is all head (and chubby thighs)! You may have noticed a little reddish patch on his left cheek; that's just a mark that he was born with. Sometimes they're called "stork bites". The doctors say it will probably fade eventually, but it may take as long as a year or two.
We love our little "KJ" (as my dad calls him) so much! We are excited for more milestones and precious memories. I have updated his February photo album, and I'll try to post some cute movies shortly.

I am excited that you were able to take a decent nap! Naps do wonders for mothers (and not just their own naps, either)! Also, congratulations on the 7 hour sleep time! We are still working on that at our house!
Enjoy the sleep! I think the sweetest sounds are baby sighs and giggles!
Yeah, you should post some videos! I'd love to hear him "talk," aww.
Oh my goodness, I am the luckiest grandmama in the world! Kimball is so absolutely adorable and brilliant and precious and just plain yummy! I love his little "folded arms" pose when he eats. How very polite and proper:) And his attempts at talking as he forms his mouth with no sound coming out just melts my heart. I love this little guy!!!
