A visit to the Bean

Last night we took the young women in the ward to the Monte L. Bean Life Science Museum at BYU, aka the Bean. This is where I worked for about 2 1/2 years starting when I was a freshman at BYU. I've been there since for classes, work, etc., but it was fun to go just to visit. My friend and former co-worker and roommate Melissa did the evening presentation for us. Afterwords she took us downstairs to the "reptile room" and showed us all of the animals. She even fed Shi-Shi (a blue-tailed monitor lizard) and Bandit (a Honduran milk snake) some mice in front of us. We all had a great time, and it brought back a lot of fun memories for me! Even though the pay was pretty bad, just "jelly beans" (an old Bean joke), it was one of the best jobs I've had. I liked teaching people, especially little kids, about animals and nature, and I loved all of the people I worked with. I still keep in touch with many of them. I was glad to see that the museum is still doing well and is making a lot of progress and changes too. Enjoy some pictures from our fun night.

I remember when we watched some episodes of "The Magic School Bus" there. Now that was fun! And then I went back one day when you weren't working to watch some more... by myself. I'm pretty sure your co-workers thought I was crazy when I asked them to put on a video for me...
