I was talking to my friend Christine, and she said: "I love how any title can sound scientific if you use certain words".
So I came up with this title for an article that could be found in a scientific journal:
"The ecology of Marmota monax with respect to the correlation of annual shadow observation and seasonal patterns of local habitat."
I should write this and submit it to Science or Nature!
Or I should get back to working on my REAL thesis...
Confused? Consider what day it is...

Haha, I was bored (while waiting for simulations for my research to finish), so I wrote an abstract. I was even able to tie in some words my professor always wants us to use in papers ("conventional/proposed," "robust").
The frequency of Marmota mamox shadow observation has long been used as a predictor of seasonal patterns, though recently these experiments have been trivialized by media exploitation. Using techniques developed by Placek, et al., we show that Marmota behavior is in fact an accurate predictor of local climate patterns. The correlation coefficient between Marmota-predicted and actual dates of seasonal change was found to be 0.9 over a decade of data, a 10% increase in correlation over conventional techniques. Possible applications of the proposed methodology include (a) a robust system for examining short-term (i.e., six week) temperature trends; and (b) study of long-term climate patterns through use of Marmota colonies.
Whoa, AWESOME abstract! We should totally do this study together. It sounds so professional. We are such dweebs. (I'm so glad the results showed an increase in prediction correlation with your new technique.)
You guys are so funny and pretty brainy . . . dare I say nerdy?, but in a very cute way!
I will do this study if it means I can have a pet groundhog!
Haha! If I were more blonde, I would probably say, "huh?" But I think I'm barely keeping up with you! You smart girl, you!
I'm not blonde and I had to say "huh"! You are too funny!
Haha, this post made me giggle. Especially picturing Christine with a pet groundhog. :)
