Last August, my dad drove down with us to help us move into our new place. He stayed for a few days, which was lots of fun!
Here he is helping Jordan assemble our bookshelves. If you know us or have seen our apartment, you know that bookcases are an absolute necessity, so this was a big help!
Here we are at Old Town San Diego. Old Town is the location of many historic buildings, some of the first built in San Diego.
In early September, my aunt Marian came to visit. Kimball calls her "Ha Ha!" Here we are again at Old Town, at the Mormon Battalion Monument.
We also got to spend this day with my cousins Bryan and Brooke, Brooke's son Isaiah, and their mom (my aunt) Rexine. Here are Kimball and Isaiah hanging out at Doheny State Beach. It's been great to hang out with this side of the family at Thanksgiving and Easter too!
In October, our visitors from Marseilles, France came! Vincent and Gaelle actually came to San Diego to live for a few years, and we were happy to host them while they found an apartment. We have gotten together since, though not as often as we would like. Every time they are so kind and generous, we love being with them!
Gaelle made this delicious pastry desert, with some kind of scrumptious almond filling inside. I can't remember what the dessert was called, but there was a big dried fava bean inside. The dessert is eaten at some point during Advent, and whoever gets the bean...is lucky? I can't remember exactly, but it is good to get the bean!
November brought my friend Christine, who I have known since first grade! The weather was great so we were able to hang out at some of our favorite outdoor spots. Here are Kimball and Christine in an over-sized Adirondack chair at the Botanic Garden.
And at the zoo!
And we got some beautiful shots playing at the beach.
Christine came right after Thanksgiving, so we had Thanksgiving Part II and had fun making some yummy dishes. Here is dessert: apple pie and chocolate-pumpkin bread pudding. SO GOOD!
In February, Jordan's sister Kourtney and her husband Adam came to spend a weekend with us. Hooray! They came during a few sunny days in between weeks of rain, so I'd say they were pretty lucky! Here we are seeing La Jolla Cove and Seal Cove.
Sea Lions!
Here we are in March, again at Seal Cove. This is Jordan's cousin Heather. She was visiting from Wyoming with a few friends and we got to spend a few hours with her. It was too short, but we're excited to see her again this summer! It had been a few years since we'd seen her, so it was so awesome that she was in town.
Spring break was in April for most people, including my brother Christian! So he and my dad came down for a fun weekend.
We watched the sunset at La Jolla Shores.
We went to the zoo. Christian may be tall, but he still can't match the wingspan of an Andean Condor!
Kimball wanted to try out Papa's electric razor!
Later in April my friend Tina (a friend since kindergarten) came for a few days. Tina just graduated from medical school (congratulations!), and is getting married in four days (congratulations again!!). I'm actually flying out to Chicago to attend her wedding and all the festivities. I'm super excited!
Here we are hanging out at the Botanic Garden. Note Kimball's masterpiece. The paint was so thick, I had to wipe some of it off. Even then, it took a couple of days to completely dry.
If she wasn't so much taller than me, I'd think so too!
Whew! I think that catches us up! Now it is our turn to be the visitors, since we'll be spending the summer in Utah. We will miss our home and friends here in San Diego, but it will be so great to see all of our family again!

I hope I can be one of your visitors sometime soon! I simply MUST meet Kimball, and I'd like to get to spend some time getting to know Jordan better- and of course to see Ashley!
But I am a bit spoiled, because I get to see you in LESS THAN A WEEK! I am so very excited! :)
Nice pics, you'll have to give me all of the pictures from my visit sometime! I like how in the pic of you and Tina, you both have similar-shaped glasses!
I love your bookcases. Half of Addie's closet is full of lots of boxes of unpacked books...those shelves look great!
