Adorable

Kimball and I went out to work in our garden this morning.

We were walking past an apartment building when this fat orange cat came running out to us. Every time I tried to push the stroller along, it would lie down in front of us and roll over on its back, as if it was dying to have its belly scratched. It followed us to our garden, and Kimball and that cat became inseparable for the next half hour. Kimball followed the cat, and the cat followed Kimball. Together they explored all of the surrounding garden plots.  It was adorable.

If you've ever read The Golden Compass, I kept thinking that the cat would be a good daemon for Kimball, since they have the same hair color! Or maybe I'm thinking more along the lines of his animal form if he were an Animagus from Harry Potter...

These first four pictures aren't of our garden plot. The two of them had wandered into someone else's.

Of course when we had to leave, Kimball had to keep giving "The Kitty" one more "big hug" and one more "big kiss".

Here is Kimball hard at "work" in our own garden. Doesn't it look so much better than the weedy mess it was a few weeks ago? We're still in the breaking-up-the-soil stage.

While we had to wear sweatshirts this morning, last Tuesday was blistering hot, so we headed over to the nearby kiddie pool. I felt my skin turning pink under two layers of sunscreen, but we had a blast!

I think the cat could be his daemon or animagus form. It works either way! :)

Very cute pictures!

Aw! I wonder if you'll run into the cat again. That's funny that you mention The Golden Compass, I just recently lent the books to a friend, who in turn recommended them to another friend. They both ended up really liking the series, so I was happy about that!
