Amigurumi is the Japanese art of crocheting stuffed animals. This pattern was really simple--basically a cylinder with arms and legs--but I want to keep at it and try some more complicated patterns soon. My cousin, Jenni, is really good at amigurumi, and gave me some really helpful tips on completing the pattern successfully. My friend since 1st grade, Christine, came to visit in November (more details on that soon, I promise!), and being a crocheting whiz, helped me get started. I'd crocheted before, but only stuff like scarves. Once I got the hang of it, it was easy and great fun!
Jordan helped me with the tags. His brothers are typical of most boys in that they love things with powers and skills. Since Jordan is way better at that stuff then me (still being a comic-loving kid at heart), I recruited him for this part. So together we came up with strengths and weaknesses for each alien and played them against each other (for each dude that had fire powers, there was another one that had water powers, etc.) The ID number is a combination of the boy's first and middle initials and age.
They were so fun that I made one for each of my brothers as well. Even though my brothers are 18 and 21, they still got a kick out of them.
Kimball got one too, but his was my trial run. I didn't even finish putting legs on his, but he still likes it! I like that they are all unique. No two have the same color combination or face.
And one in progress, inside out. Ahh!

They turned out so cute! I love them. Great job! :) I love that you named them and came up with superpowers. Such a fun idea!
So cute! Christine told me about you making them for the boys. I think I need to try my hand at one.
These turned out so cute, Ash! I love the half-smile you gave to Christian's little dude. The colors you picked for both Sean's and Christian's are so perfect for each of them. I'm not sure where Sean has perched his guy in his apartment, but Christian has his parked right in the middle of his dresser where it can watch over Christian as he sleeps :D
So well done, and so thoughtful!!!
Those are amazing! I love the little guys with the smirks. Creative people amaze me! :)
CUTE! Those little aliens are so adorable! They look so professional. Jordan's addition of the little cards with superpowers is priceless, too!
You're so creative! I love the finished project.
Yay, I kept meaning to ask you how they had turned out. They look so cute when they are all posed in a group. And I really like the color combos!
Superpowers! How clever! I want to know what Kimball's powers are, besides total cuteness!
