Harry Potter!

Jordan and I saw Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince with my family on its opening day. I really liked it! I thought it was one of the best Harry Potter movies made so far. Like always, the plot was changed and things were left out--and in this case, some things were completely made up and added in, like the weird scene in the marsh by the Weasley's Burrow (totally unnecessary...it wasn't even a set up for something later in the movie). Actually, the more time that passes since the movie, the more details I think of that I wish had been included. This scene should have been more like this, that actor should have been more like that, etc. At the same time though, I thought it was more faithful to the book in some ways than the other movies. (The books beat the movies, always!)

I thought that one of the best parts of the movie was Daniel Radcliffe. He's a way better actor in this movie--much more Harry Potter-ish. Less stiffness, more personality. Now I'm really excited for the two movies for Book 7. On the one hand, it's kind of annoying that it's being split into two movies, especially because I've heard they are going to be two different styles. But on the other, the more of the book that can be put on screen the better, I guess.

Here's a picture of me at the theater.

You may ask, what is she wearing?

Before you make too much fun of my shirt, you must know that I puff-painted this shirt at a sleepover with my friends when I was 16, in excited anticipation of the first movie. (Somehow I still have it. Do you guys still have yous? The embarrassing thing is only worn on certain HP occassions.) We went to the first midnight showing and brought Bertie Bott's Every Flavor Beans and a stuffed Scabbers (this was before we knew Scabbers' true identity). We were huge fans from the start!

When Kimball gets old enough, Jordan and I will make sure he becomes a Harry Potter fan too!

I'm glad it was a great movie! Unfortunately I have to suffer a few more weeks before we see it (we're waiting for my brother to get back from his mission), but I'm glad it was as good as the others. (Love the shirt, by the way :).

That is so cool that you wore your shirt from years ago! I haven't seen the movie yet, so I'm glad that you liked it. I will be sure to pay attention in the swamp!

I too love the shirt! I think it is cool that you have saved it all this time- a good tradition! We haven't seen the movie yet, I don't think Gabe would sit still that long, but we may try anyway, or wait until we can get it on netflix. Or just get a babysitter. Yeah, that sounds like the best option. Haha.

I like your shirt. It's very cool. I just saw the movie today. I'm still mulling over what I think about it.

I am so happy that you are going to raise Kimball to be a HP follower! I'm so proud that he has already mastered one of the cooler charms--WINGARDIUM LEVIOSA!

I think I have to thank Ash for being the one to bring Harry Potter into our household all those years ago, right, Ash? Looking back, meeting J.K. Rowling and having her sign our books is a bigger deal to me now than it was when it actually happened.

Ah. My memory of Harry coming into the household is a little different. I HAD heard the librarians at the Naperville Public Library saying to each other one day, "Have you read the Harry Potter book yet?" But it wasn't until after you got Sean the second book for his birthday (none of us having read the first yet!) that I read the first one, so that I could do them in proper order. I must have been around 15 or so.

The J.K. Rowling signing was huge for me. That wait in line for hours was totally worth it. And I think I have a picture of her somewhere!

I think that is so neat that you got to meet JK Rowling! How cool is that? You have the cutest little wizard on the block!
