So here are a few pictures of the garden on our front steps. It isn't much, but it's growing well, and it's fun to have a few things to pick. To be completely honest, the green pepper in the previous post was actually from our next door neighbors' garden, which I watered for a week, and they told me I could pick anything that was ready while they were out of town. BUT, we do have a bell pepper plant of our own, and the peppers are growing quickly.
We have three tomato plants. None of the tomatoes are red yet, but I've counted about 25 big tomatoes (I can't remember which varieties!), and about 20 cherry tomatoes (sweet 100's) so far.

Strawberries. We just planted them this year. Does it take a year or two to get fruit? It's growing like a weed, but I haven't seen any flowers yet.

Maybe my favorite plant-- basil! We actually have two pots of basil and it's also growing like a weed. I've made two batches of pesto, and used it in other pasta recipes and pizza.

And here's the whole set up. Pretty good for not having a lawn of your own, eh?
Earlier in the spring we also grew some sugar snap peas, which tasted great, but we didn't get a whole lot of them. I think they got too hot with summer coming on. We also have a few other pepper plants, like jalepenos. But someone or something keeps stealing the peppers! Grr! Last year we planted more variety (onions, brussel sprouts, spinach, lettuce), but this year I wanted to keep it a little simpler, and I think we are having better success with what we did plant.Just for fun, here are some more cute pictures of Kimball out on the lawn yesterday:
I can't tell what this one reminds me of...like he's watching a football game on TV or something.

Wow, the garden looks a lot better in the pictures. I've always thought it looked pretty pathetic in real life. Good job Ash!
Nah, it's awesome! You were the one who planted it all!
That's so cool! I had no idea you planted to much. Great job working with no yard! Green onions are really easy too and would probably do great it pots. We have lots of them that I started from seed.
I love basil too! I'm glad it grows quickly, because then you can use a lot of it. My parents have strawberry plants in their yard; I seem to remember my mom saying that when they bought the plants, they were already a year or two old. So, I think you are correct that they don't bear fruit the first year (or longer?).
Wowsers! You've got yourself 2 green thumbs. Our strawberries took a couple years to get going, but once they started, they are going gang busters. Your tomato plants look WAY better then mine do. But you've been getting the heat that we haven't got. Nice job you two!
Great job with the garden, and Kimball is, as always, very cute.
What a lovely bit of synergy: Watching your adorable baby grow as you watch your garden grow, making for a bit of heaven on earth. Isn't it all amazing?!
Congratulations on the garden! Maybe next year, you can come up here are teach me a thing or two! BTW, the little boy is growing great too! He is such a cutie!
Cute pictures! Also, I love your garden- how resourceful! And your potted plants are doing much better than our plants in our little garden plot in the ground.
