Squinty Grins and Cricket Legs

Kimball is five months old! This has been a great month for all of us. I'm really enjoying him at this age. Maybe the most exciting thing is that, almost exactly a month ago, Kimball began sleeping through the night!! Now he will go to bed around 9-10pm, and sleep until 8-9am. I have to say that he does kind of wake up a few times each night...just because he's learned to roll and he rolls all over his crib, into the bars, loses his pacifier and blanket, and just becomes uncomfortable. But he goes right back to sleep when we help him out. We never have to feed him in the middle of the night anymore. Yes!!

Kimball's personality has really started to shine this month. He is a very happy person. He only cries when we're too slow on the bottle or if he's really tired. I can tell that he likes to make us laugh, he loves both of us, and especially loves it when we're both playing with him at the same time. I think he will be a very funny boy, very sweet, but also one of those children who has a minor meltdown when he can't push the elevator button himself. "Kimball does things Kimball's way", as we like to say.

He's developed some very cute and funny habits. One is his "squinty grin". He started this out of nowhere last Sunday. He squints and smiles while sticking out his bottom teeth. Sometimes he does it to no one or nothing in particular. This video just shows a snippet of the "squinty grin".

He has also become quite the Jiminy Cricket, rubbing his legs together. I love it when he's on his tummy, spreads out his arms like he's swimming, and does his cricket legs. My dad says if we just put some flint on his feet he could start a fire for us.

Another one of my favorite things is that he makes little kissing noises by popping his lips apart. They are very frequent, very loud, and very cute! Oh, and I love his laughter! (See previous post.)

Kimball's treatments are continuing to go well. He will have another MRI on Monday, and we expect the results to show continued progress. We love our little one so much, and are so grateful for the laughter and joy he brings into our home.

I've updated his May photo album for those who are interested. Here are some of my favorites:

Cute! But I wonder if he's frustrated that he can't actually move himself! I bet he will be a fast crawler when he can!
