I'm sure that you, whoever you are, will understand the lack of blogging due to the abundance of family activities, running of errands, packing, and cleaning our house lately. Right now I am working my last graveyard shift. We are moving in five days! I have many pictures to share though, so I will just direct you to the album below to see what we have been up to.
In short, we had a perfect evening barbecue with both sides of the family, took Kimball up Hobble Creek Canyon and played in the river, saw our dear friends Dave and Diane who were visiting from London, and went on a couple of hikes. Here are a few of my favorites:
I'm feeling bad for Kimball because he hasn't been sleeping so well lately. Last night he woke up around 11 pm crying and calling "mama! mama!" All he wanted to do is cling to me and cuddle. He was back to sleep within a half an hour, but I felt so sad for him. His naps have also been half as long as usual, and he is right in the middle of the transition from two naps a day to one nap a day. I've read when kids don't get enough sleep, the sleep they do get is restless. I think a lot of things are happening to him at once. First, there is the stress of the move. The house is piled with boxes, his room is bare, and his toys have disappeared. He has also started his first real separation anxiety stage. I've noticed that when he learns to say or sign the word for something, he becomes super obsessed with it (milk, pacifier, blankie, monkey, Pooh bear). So since he has started saying "mama" a lot, I am all he wants! Not that that is a bad thing. His little "mamas" are the sweetest sound in the world. Finally, I think he may be starting to have night terrors and/or be afraid of the dark, so we have a little night light. Poor kid, there are so many things going on right now!

Great pictures Ash!
Poor little guy. I guess it's all new and he doesn't really understand what's going on. I hope he's able to get some restful sleep soon.
We moved on Addison's 2nd birthday and she cried and didn't sleep well for the week leading up to the move and for about a month after the move. Whenever we would leave our new house, she would just cry and cry that she wanted to "go home". Then we would pull into the garage and she would say "not this home, my home." It was super sad to me as a parent to think that I put my child through something like that. But they get over it pretty quickly. They are super resiliant!
I love the last picture on this blog page. The color is fantastic! Kimball is such a little cutie!!! Good job!
Good luck with the move!!! Exciting adventures await you guys!!! (I'm a little jealous that you will be so close to the San Diego Zoo and Sea World. I love both of those places!)
Oh, and I forgot to mention the construction that is not more than 200 feet away in our backyard. They are widening the freeway. There used to be a huge sound wall and grass and trees so that you never noticed the freeway was behind our house, but now there are steamrollers and backhoes. Today they were pouring gravel down a hill. Yet another reason for Kimball's poor sleep! I'm so excited to move away from the construction!
Jen, that's such a sad story about Addison. :( I'm glad they adjust quickly.
Your August photo album is adorable! I love the second picture of the three of you by our fire pit--Kimball looks so happy and content :) Actually, I love all of the pictures! It will be so fun for you to show these to Kimball in a few years. What a lucky kid to have so many people love him so much!
That's my boy loving monkeys! Wohoo!! He's adorable Ash. Good luck on the move.
Poor little guy! Life is hard when you don't understand what is going on around you! Especially when your toys disappear!
