He's got talent, yo ho!

Our ward had a potluck and talent show this week for the Primary kids (kids ages 3-11). Most of the kids, though, are under 8. It was a brilliant idea. After a picnic-style dinner, the show began. The kids were adorable. Some memorable talents included fast running, lightsaber moves, artwork, homemade cookies, and trampoline jumping.

I tried to explain the concept to Kimball, that he needed to pick something cool to show his friends. We suggested riding his bike or reciting his "roses are red" poem. He chose to dress up like Spiderman and sing the theme song, Kimball style:

"Biderman, Biderman, watch out! Here comes Bidermaaaan!"

It was great. But about 30 minutes before we left for the talent show, he decided he wanted to be a pirate instead. Luckily, he's been singing "A Pirate's Life for Me" for a few months, ever since we went to Disneyland in December.

A little explanation about how he sings it. One of the verses of the song says "we're devils and black sheep, we're really bad eggs...." Kimball took that and somehow came up with,

"a bad eggs, a bad cucumbers, drink up, yo ho!" And he's been singing it that way ever since.

Enjoy!

And one more angle for the bow...

I love how stoic he is, and how brave he was to just get up there and belt it out!

What a talent! Kimball is so, so adorable! I love this so much! I'm so glad you caught this on video, not only for us, but also for Kimball to watch when he is older so he can see the moxie and confidence he possessed even at the tender age of three! "A bad eggs, a bad cucumbers . . . " You can't make this stuff up!

Oh my stars! He is SO cute!! Mom and I sat here and just kept watching it over and over again. Neither Jonathan nor Bella would EVER do such a thing. The pirate costume is adorable! I just want to eat him up with a spork.
