A Little Leprechaun Goes to a Rally

It's been a busy week, full of babysitting,

(look at her face!)

rallying (it's pretty complicated, not just your average rent hikes),

and celebrating our 5th wedding anniversary! Time is limited with a young one, so we stole away for a few hours while Kimball played with some friends, got some fish tacos, and ate at the beach in the dark. The waves, stars, and moon were so beautiful!

I was kind of excited about our 5th, because I got to open this box, which my friends put together at a bridal shower.

Yes, I have been lugging it around, unopened for over five years.  Inside were everyone's predictions about our future five years from our wedding date, including how many kids and how old, professions, cars, and pets.

Almost everyone guessed that we'd have two kids by now (some people even guessed three!!). Jordan and I felt very good when we saw that written on each of our slips of paper was 0-1 kids. We are (and were) definitely on the same page!

Predictions about careers included law clerk, business, airplane test pilot, and traffic cop for Jordan, and english teacher, zookeeper, veteranarian, clown, Bean Museum Manager (x2), and Lytle Ranch Preserve Supervisor for me. One wise soul guessed students. Very good.

Cars: VW Bug (x3), Honda Civic (x4), Toyota Corolla, '96 Nissan Altima, '90 Lexus, and an Astro minivan. Well, while I really like Hondas, we drive a Hyundai Elantra. It's a little lower in the price range, and we love it!

Pets: People guessed various combinations of cats, geckos, hamsters, birds, dogs, fish, lizards, and turtles. Jordan and I guessed a snake, and that's because we had a baby ball python at the time. He only lived with us for three years though. RIP, Stanley.

Little Leprechaun makes being a concerned citizen so irresistibly adorable! How cute is he???!!! Good for you guys for being so actively involved in something that seriously affects you and your little family! Do UC families? I do! I do!

Your five-year predictions for the future box is such a blast! What a great idea for a wedding shower, and kudos to you for lugging it around all those years! It is so fun to see what was predicted and what really is! Are you surprised by any of it?

Darling photo of the happy couple, btw :D

I didn't get to make a prediction! No fair. =) Those shirts and signs are too cute. It's good to get kids into standing up for their rights at a young age. =)

Ha, I knew that the movie was Mary Poppins even before I saw the close-up pic. Let us know how the rent increase thing turns out.

Can't believe you guys have been married for 5 years already! Picturing Jordan as a traffic cop makes me giggle, heh.
