Hello, heat wave!

We are baking here! I never knew it could get so hot this close to the coast. I just about died hanging up the laundry today, and Kimball and I both started looking pretty pink after a half an hour outside. I was going to take him to the beach today with some friends, but he woke up coughing and sniffling, so we decided to stay home. Maybe we should have just gone anyway…

I know 98 isn't all that bad, but it is humid too, you have to give us that. And we've just gotten used to nice, temperate weather, that's all. We've spent most of the day inside with curtains and windows closed (open windows made it much worse) and fans on (no cooling unit), and it's actually quite pleasant as the day has worn on it's getting warmer and warmer in here!

But look at the rest of the week. Much cooler. Although the temperature today was at least six degrees warmer than the forecasted high, so who knows what we'll get?

Jordan officially started his classes last week, so the night before his first class we had our first annual "Back to School Bash", which only consisted of a fun sign and one of Jordan's (and my) favorite meals, eggplant parmigiana. I think the Bash will be much more exciting when Kimball is school-age.

"Good Luck!" in both languages we are tying to learn since both are spoken in Vanuatu: French and Bislama.

The humidity definitely does make it worse! Sorry it was so hot!

Why are you trying to learn French and Bislama? What/where is Vanuatu? And, what the heck is Bislama?

You just know that 98 degrees is speaking right to me, don't you?! Although, I must admit that coupled with the humidity, I would be hating life. I hate that humidity component :( The rest of your week does look lovely. Our week looks spectacular! 90, 91, 90, 89, 88. And best of all, it will be dry, dry, dry! Yay!!!

Ash, your signs are adorable! I LOVE the triangle banner thing hanging in front of your window! So clever and creative! And my goodness, you know how to treat your man right with that eggplant parmagiana. I'd say you threw a pretty spiffy "Back to School Bash!" Well done.

I am so sorry that you are having that kind of heat & humidity! That does not sound like much fun to me (sorry Aunt Dee!)!

I think your back to school bash is a fantastic idea! I am going to have to store that little idea away in my brain for when my girls go to school.

Yum yum, I love eggplant parm. I think the whole west coast has a heat wave - it has been around 80 here, and it "should" be in the low 60s. Ok, I know that's nothing compared to 98 :( Eat/make some popsicles if you are still hot!

Oh I'm right with yah with the humidity thing-- we were shocked moving here, not expecting it to be so muggy! It makes all the difference! I can't believe you're learning 2 new languages!

The thing that you have to experience for yourself is that the weather changes SOOO fast. One second your in the middle of a fog and it's 40 degrees outside, and just an hour later its 80 degrees. Last week I had to wear a sweater to school. The night before the heat wave we had our heater going because it was freezing in our apartment.

I love the weather here, but seriously some consistency would be nice.
