I'm in love...

...with my little boy! Today Kimball is 18 months old! He is finally a year and a half, which means...nursery at church! We have been waiting longingly for this day. Actually, he has already snuck in for a few weeks with the ladies' OK, but now he can be official. It will be nice to be able to sit in peace for a little while at church now!

Kimball is now 24 lbs and 32 inches tall. A bit on the lower side of the percentile charts, but growing steadily. He's running and climbing, and can be on top of the kitchen table in seconds flat. He loves the water, and had been swimming three times this summer, besides playing with hoses and pitchers of water outside. Besides water, he loves rocks, and throwing rocks into water. And I can't forget to mention his love of cars, and obsession with sitting in the driver's seat of our car (on my lap of course), turning on hazard lights, windshield wipers, and radio on full blast. If you ask him, "how old are are you?", he will grin and hold up one or both index fingers.

Kimball's spoken vocabulary is still small, consisting of words like

Dada = daddy
Dada + a spitty kind of noise = grandpa
Mama = mama
Mamama= grandmama
Da da...ah! = Grandma Bea
Hi! = hi!
Ha ha! = Aunt Marian
Bup = up
Uh-uh (whispered) = uh-oh,

various signs including please, pacifier, blankie, bird, fish, and one that he made up for Grandma Pauline,

and animal noises and/or actions including horse, dog, cat, wolf, monkey, bird, pig, salamander (shaking his head and kicking his feet--he made this one up!), bunny, frog, and duck.

Although he doesn't speak much, he understands complex sentences and is very obedient when I ask him to do things (or not do things!). Jordan says he is the best cleaner-upper in nursery. That's my boy!

Happy milestone, little boy! You bring us so much joy!

I am longingly awaiting the 18 month mark purely for the benefit of nursery. I'm sure you're all loving it :). He's such a cutie!

Wow! I can't believe he's already 18 months old. It amazes me how quickly time flies by. He's such a cutie! And, I think Jordan is having more fun than Kimball in that last picture.

Kimball understands what a salamander is? He is so smart. (I think he needs to learn "nudibranch" next ;) ). I can't believe he is already 18 months!

I'm in love too! And I love his vocabulary guide, especially his word for "grandpa!" Spitty is darling on this 18-month-old! He looks so old licking the whipped cream beater :D Don't you wonder what is going through his little brain as he sits behind the steering wheel in the car, obviously in his own private heaven? You are such good parents to let him have his fondest wish as you guys sweat it out. He is such a lucky little boy!!! And such a doll!
