Cute art project for kids (or grownups too!)

Here’s a cute idea for a birthday card, thank you card, or a fun art project for the little ones. This one was for my dad’s birthday. We just dipped our thumbs in craft paint (an ink pad works too) and after dabbing them a bit, pressed them on a piece of cardstock (with a little assistance for Kimball). Then we each drew a little thumbprint version of ourselves with a fine-tip marker. Of course, I did Kimball’s for him. When Kimball made his thumbprint, he left a little extra smudge. I thought it kind of looked like a mouse, so that’s what it became!

I took a minimalist approach with this, but you can gussie it up a little with more color, a background scene or landscape, or whatever the kids want. You can even include family pets. A fun art project could include making a lot of prints and smudges and then having the kids use their imaginations to turn them into people, animals, flowers, sea monsters, whatever!

Yep! Dave loves this card so much that he took it to work with him so he can see it every day. I love Kimball's little teeth and curly hair! You guys are very artistic! Can I place an order for a bunch of these? I'll do PayPal, check or cash :)

That's too cute! I never would have thought of that, but now you've given me ideas for how to do cards with Jonathan & Bella (i've tried doing handprints on them, and that was messy). =)
