Recovering

There hasn't been an update around here for a while, because we've been battling a bug at our house! Last Sunday, Kimball woke up in the middle of the night, throwing up. His first time throwing up, poor little guy. He was so sad and confused, and kept trying to hug both of us at the same time. Needless to say, I got pretty messy, but Kimball was being so sweet that I didn't mind. One bath, and change of sheets and pajamas later, he was back to sleep.

I took this picture a few hours before it all started, because I thought
his "touchdown" pose was hilarious.
I hadn't seen that one for months. Little did I know...

Unfortunately, this continued the next morning, and evening, and the following evening, every hour on the top of the hour through the whole night. By this time, I had caught the bug too. Ugh. Luckily, I was only really sick for a day and a half or so.

Kimball got so bad that he couldn't even keep a sip of water down for more than a minute. I was afraid he was getting dehydrated, so we took him to the doctor. He gave Kimball a special little pill that took the nausea away so he could keep some food and water down. It worked wonders! We thought Kimball was all better--he was certainly acting like it--but on Thursday afternoon it started again. I'm supposed to keep him off all dairy products (except yogurt) for a few more days. He was fine today, if a little crankier than usual. I hope we're done with this icky bug, but I don't want to be too hopeful since I've been fooled many times this week!

One of his feeling-better days in the middle of the week.
Above: what he does when I ask him to "smile!"

Let's just say that after cleaning couches, carpets, stuffed monkeys, and running the washer and dryer almost constantly, we're ready for some sense of normalcy!

Kimball's setup for watching "Thomas the Tank Engine".

Going to sit up and feel better?

Meh, not now Mom.

Later in the day, feeling better and watching Sesame Street.

Update, Saturday AM: I was right; I blogged too soon. Now Jordan has the bug! Enough already!

You've been such a wonderful mama through all of this, Ash. I've got to hand it to you--there is only so much of a child's throwing up that a parent can take before she starts to wonder if things will EVER be back to normal. Especially if the mama is sick too! And now the daddy! Jeepers. Keep repeating over and over again until it is a truth: "This too shall pass. This too shall pass. This too . . . ."

Love you all tons!

Aw, so sad...sorry you're all sick! That's the absolute worst. I hope you all get better soon!

But on a lighter note, I LOVE Kimball's hair. Here's a funny fact: since Addie's also a red-head I've discovered from various reliable sources that oftentimes the normal amounts of anesthesia don't work on red-heads...they need higher doses. Ha ha! That'll make the dentist even worse than it normally is...

I'm sorry you've all been sick. That's not fun at all. It's always hard to see little kids sick because they don't understand what's going on. I always feel bad for them and animals. Poor things.

I love the first picture of Kimball laying against the pillows. He's so cute, even when he's sick.

I hope that bug has been squashed at your house! I think that babies throwing up is the absolute worse! I always feel so helpless, there isn't much you can do for them, except lots of hugs!

Aww, hope you guys are feeling better soon. In the meantime, I think you should all take Kimball's example and lie on some pillows and watch tv!

I can not believe that Kimball is 15 plus months old and that was his first throw up! You are LUCKY!!! I am so sorry that you all have been so sick!
I love his set up to watch his tv. I'd almost think he had an enviable life (if he weren't so darn sick!)
