Little Red

Whenever people meet Kimball for the first time, it is guaranteed that they will comment on the color of his hair. Usually they say something along the lines of, "look at his beautiful hair!" When I was pregnant and imagining my baby, I always pictured a brown-haired child, or possibly one with blond hair which would fade to brown, like mine. I never entertained the idea of a red-head, because I had no real reason to--or so I thought. Yes, I have a few red-headed cousins, and Jordan has one red-headed brother, but I didn't think it was a real possibility. To tell the truth, I was a bit apprehensive about the idea. "He wouldn't fit in!" I foolishly thought. So with a beautiful twist of irony, Kimball was born with long, thick locks of unexpectedly auburn hair. And I love it.

His hair has lightened considerably over the past year, but still remains red. Red-red, blond-red, or brown-red, depending on the lighting. Jordan had reddish hair as an infant, but it was gone by the time he was one. Kimball's fireball is still going strong, and he has a personality to match!

Here are a few pictures we took the other day that show off his lovely locks. He is in desparate need of a haircut, but I kind of like it longish. We just need to trim off a few scraggly ends. And figure out where in the world we part it and how to make it stay!

Here I asked him to sit down, but he's clearly not sure why.

And here I was immensely grateful that Kimball has received his tetanus shots.

One thing I love about Kimball is his eagerness to give hugs--to anything.
I think the prompt in this case was said by me: "look at the cute flower!"

Singing, "Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes"!

I have to admit, I love red hair! I have always dreamed about having a red headed child with green eyes. I think there must be something in our genes that produces such beautiful red headed children. I hope that Kimball doesn't lose that beautiful color!

I love auburn hair so much. I'm not a "red" hair fan unless it's a fake red or auburn. Kimball's hair color is perfect!

I love the picture of him holding the bars and touching the dandelion.

You have the cutest kid! He's cute regardless of the red hair. But he is SO darn cute. My whole family thinks so. Lets hope it stays! Keep up the good work!

Kimball is definitely a cutie. I think red hair on little boys is adorable.
