Gymventures!

Kimball attended his first ever tumbling class today at the YMCA. It's called Gymventures, and it's for 3-4 year olds. I think he was one of the youngest ones there (he hasn't even been three for a week!). But his enthusiasm was unmatched. As you can see in the video below, he is kind of, um, a free spirit. He tries to follow, and does a pretty good job, but his bottom just doesn't know how to sit yet. This is one of his first teacher-led experiences (without me around), so hopefully the experience will be good for him. The other problem he had was waiting his turn. He was so fast that he kept bypassing the other kids, and then would have to go back and wait for his turn.

When I have peeked in on the gymnastics classes before, there were only three or four toddlers present. Unfortunately, Kimball's class had seven kids, so he had to wait for six children to finish their routine before he could go. And since we all know he has an antsy bottom, we shouldn't be surprised that he wandered around the gym, got on the trampoline without permission, and even wandered off into a storage closet. I think he even lost a turn doing a routine because of his wandering, because I saw the teacher have a chat with him, and he pounded his fist on the mat in frustration. But to his credit, most of the kids in the class had taken it before, so he did great for his very first day!

Nevertheless, his teacher was very nice, and I know Kimball had a blast. He gets to go every Tuesday for four more weeks. Have fun watching the little monkey. He is totally in his element.

Holy moley, is he not the cutest thing! You had a stroke of genius when you decided to enroll Kimball in this class. You nailed it when you said that he is totally in his element--he is!!! Great video and great music selection :D So, so cute!
