Whenever I imagined the time after I defended my thesis, I pictured myself so ecstatic that I would want to go out and run a mile, right then and there. But today all I thought was, "that went really well, I'm really glad that's over, now I want to sleep". Kimball is in bed for the night, so after 1.5 hours of sleep last night, and 3.5 the night before, I am going to crash. Good night.
Don't worry, everything went great and the professors were really pleased. More details later.
Also, the graduate secretary made this poster for me and hung copies by all of the elevators. I really like it, but she didn't italicize the scientific name and it is kind of bugging me. Grrrr.

Hey everyone! I was there basking in Ashley's brilliance as she defended her thesis, and let me tell you, she WAS brilliant! She didn't stumble, she didn't stutter, she didn't do any "um's" or "er's", her powerpoint presentation was done to perfection, she knew every bit of her information inside and out, and she was as calm as a cucumber. (She may say otherwise, but, no. Trust me.)
Ashley, I am so proud of you for conquering this humungous mountain! And conquering the mountain is hard enough for anyone, but for you to do it with a baby on board is really extraordinarily fabulous! May I just say, I AM SO PROUD OF YOU!!!! Well done, Sweet Pea!

Good job sweet heart! You did amazingly. I can see why your professors said it was one of the best presentations they've ever seen. You were clam and collected. You had a firm command of the issues while still being able to concisely convey your hypotheses so that even us "nonscientists" could understand. I'm so proud of you. I wish you could only sleep forever now. Love you!

I knew you wouldn't make the scientific name mistake being a grammar nut like you are. I always just have to walk away when I see those things, but I understand your pain completely since my dad ingrained that into being a microbiologist. ;)
