When Christine Came to Visit

At the beginning of July, my friend Christine came to visit us! It turned out to be a pretty exciting weekend. On our first day, Christine, Jordan, and I went to the Sundance Resort to take the ski lift up the mountain, then hike to a waterfall then back down. I think it was about a 3-mile hike. It was a beautiful day and great weather for hiking. My family met us at Sundance and decided to do the hike with us as well. All went wonderfully and we made it to the waterfall just fine. But soon after we left to start the hike down, my poor mom caught her feet on a root that was sticking up from the trail, and fell, hitting her shoulder on a rock that was on the trail. She ended up with a really badly broken collar bone. (In retrospect, it was very lucky that she didn't hit her head on the rock or roll off the trail down the mountainside-a bunch of plants were there to hold her.) Anyway, she had about a mile or more to get down the mountain, but amazingly, she did it very quickly. We took her to the hospital and the next day they did surgery on her shoulder. She was a trooper and has been recovering very quickly!

The next day, the three of us went to Park City and rode the Alpine slide. (If you've never been, it's another trip up a ski lift, then a ride in these little cars down a kind of chute that twists and turns around the mountainside.) Then we had dinner at my family's house, a wonderful meal that my mom had prepared but that she couldn't be there for since she was at the hospital with my dad. My brothers cooked it all, and they did a great job! It was really fun to see Christine since I haven't seen here for a long time! Thanks for coming to see us, Christine!
