Kimball's Great Grandma

On our way to Utah from San Diego, we made a stop in Davis, CA, and stayed with Jordan's aunt, uncle, and their two little boys. We so enjoyed staying with them and catching up. Kimball loved playing with the little boys!

One of the best parts about stopping there was the chance to see Jordan's maternal grandmother. Her name is Beulah, which coincidentally is the name of my mother's mother as well! My grandma goes by Bea, and Jordan's grandma's affectionate nickname is Billie.

Grandma Horne is about 89 years old (I can't remember exactly), and lives in an assisted living facility. Going to see her was very special since neither Kimball or I have ever met her. Grandma seemed so happy to see us, especially Kimball. She was worried that he would waltz off her rear balcony and fall! Luckily there were enough bars to hold him in.

Kimball is usually very active, curious, and rambunctious. He can usually be seen running or climbing on anything and everything. But with Grandma, I think he could tell that she was fragile. He was extremely well-behaved and tender towards her. I think he really enjoyed the visit.

Here he his, "helping" Grandma walk down the hall. He was very serious about this job.

Taking a break to play a bit of chess...

So tender and loving...

We were so glad to be able to see our family in Davis, and to spend time with sweet Grandma Horne!

Thank you for the post and pictures!

Interestingly, Kimball's Great GREAT Grandma Haug was also called "Billie"-- even though her name was Helen Louise! No one is quite sure how it started, but she was called that from the time she was a little girl.

These pictures are great but they just can't capture how sweet Kimball was to Grandma. He instantly loved her. It was the cutest thing.

That's so cool that Jordan's grandma's name is Beulah too. How funny and coincidental!
